To have an extraordinary life and career, turn your ORs to ANDs.

A key learning I took from the wonderful CEO Whisperer, Tony Robbins. When I was going through a rough patch in my career, attending a leadership program facilitated by Tony changed my life. He said, “If you want to have an extraordinary career and life, DECIDE here and now to make it so. DECIDE in advance what that would look like”.

One of my favourite Tony quotes –

“It’s in the moments of your decisions that your destiny is shaped”.

The WINNERS in life settle for nothing less. Instead of having the mindset of good life or good career, find answers to “how can I have an EXTRAORDINARY life AND an EXTRAORDINARY career?”

I decided then that I wanted to inspire others to find fulfilment through their careers, to help create organisations where people are at their natural, inspired best.

I wanted to see the world in the process. Be paid to do what I love doing best.

I wanted to do it with the one I wanted to spend most time with – my amazing wife Sue Siow.

I wanted to do it with people who shared our values and had fun not just creating magic together but also to hang around with.

I wanted to serve clients whose missions and desired culture inspired.

I wanted to meet and learn from people of all walks of life and industries.

I wanted to inspire my three exceptional children to create and have an extraordinary life and career that gave them great fulfilment – through being a model of possibility.

I wanted to give more than I receive and yet, receive abundance due to the exceptional commitment we put into what we do and the results we created for our clients.

I wanted every chance to make new friends and hang out with those I cherished and who cherished me.

And just as importantly, I wanted to spend more time with my parents and brother Gregory who live in Malaysia.

After 2 exceptional weeks of workshops in Singapore and Batam, I planned to spend 4 days in my hometown of Seremban with my parents and Gary. My visit coincided with a time when the three of them needed me most – Mum just having come out of hospital. A 4-day visit was extended to a week, thanks also to exceptionally compassionate clients (thanks Benjamin Lloyd and team Trinity Fitout and Construction) and a great team (thanks Dale White) who had my back. Mum is getting stronger every day. It’s a privilege to be at her side.

I couldn’t be more blessed. Thanks, Tony, for helping me look into the mirror and see and imagine much much bigger than I was reflecting on back then.

I’ll leave you with the words of the amazing Steve Jobs.

“And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
