My cousin, Xav shared this inspiring video with me today. I hope it will inspire you too!
Whenever you feel down and out, apply the following success formula:
Step #1: Alter your emotional state. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Instead of asking “why”, focus instead on “what’s going great in my life right now?”. E.g.
“I may not be able to walk right now, but I am alive. I have a great family. I live in the greatest of times. I can see, hear, feel. I live in a land of opportunity.”
“The greatest glory in life is not in never falling; it’s in rising every time you fall”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
Step #2: Visualise ideal outcomes. From a state of gratitude, clarify what you really want! For instance,
“I want to lose weight and start feeling better”
“I want to be independent”
“I want to be an inspiration to others”
Step #3: Brainstorm possible options and actions. Write down all the options you have, however silly they might appear to be. The longer the list, the greater the confidence this will give you. And sometimes, the option that appears to be “silliest” can be the one that gives you the breakthrough you need.
Step #4: Review available resources. Identify all the resources you can draw from to help you with your journey. Write down a list of skills, people/relationships/connections/expertise, tools, systems and most importantly, internal attributes like courage, faith, determination that you can draw from. Seek advice from people who have the results you want! Chances are, whatever your issues might be, someone else has already overcome it in the past. Stand on the shoulders of “giants” who have already done the hard yards. Be resourceful!
Step #5: Take action. Decide to take one action step forward immediately.
“Don’t wait. The time will never be just right.” – Napoleon Hill
Step #6: Monitor and adapt. Celebrate every success, however small. If after much perseverance, you don’t feel you’re getting the results you want, have the courage to change your strategy.
“Sometimes when you innovate, you make mistakes. It is best to admit them quickly, and get on with improving your other innovations.” – Steve Jobs
Step #7: Never give up on your desired outcomes
Be the very best you can be!
